Properly installed and maintained asphalt will last 15-25 years. The key factors are the quality of the base layer, correct drainage slope, and periodic seal coating (every 3-5 years). We advise on all of this during the quoting process.

You can walk on fresh asphalt after 24 hours. Light vehicles can be allowed after 48-72 hours. Heavy vehicles (trucks, containers) should wait at least 5-7 days to allow the asphalt to fully cure and harden. We'll give you a specific timeline based on your project.

In South Africa, "tar" and "asphalt" are often used interchangeably colloquially, but they are different products. True coal tar has been largely phased out due to environmental concerns. Modern "tar surfacing" uses asphalt (bitumen + aggregate) which is safer, more durable, and environmentally compliant. We exclusively use modern asphalt mixes.

A new court from earthworks to final line marking typically takes 3-6 weeks. This depends on the existing ground conditions, weather, and the complexity of the drainage and lighting requirements. Resurfacing an existing court takes 3-5 days.
